This is an excerpt from Louis Potvin’s Tea & Tale presentation in 2012. Louis recalls how Mountain FM got started and explains the various technical issues that were solved in order to broadcast the radio station up and down the Sea to Sky. Louis also talks about the original CRTC application and how they got an antenna on the Lion’s Gate bridge. The creation of Mountain FM was of great benefit to local residents in navigating the road conditions on the Sea to Sky highway and for the sharing of community information throughout the Sea to Sky region.

For Tea & Tales on August 14th Bob Menzel came in and demonstrated how to pack a horse. Bob is a long-time Pemberton resident who has been riding horses for most of his life, and whose family owns and operates Adventures on Horseback.
Niki Madigan, curator of the Pemberton Museum, read an account of the 1940 flood that was written by Francis Decker. The 1940 flood, also known as the great flood was a major event in Pemberton history. It had a huge impact on residents of the valley, as a result of it some settlers left the area forever.
Anna Helmer is a Pemberton resident who works with her family on their organic farm. She talked about the challenges faced by farmers today and in the past, as well as highlighting how organic farms are different from conventional ones.
