BC Canada 150 Funding Projects

In 2017 the Pemberton Museum received funding from the BC Canada 150 program. This funding went toward improving Safety, Security and Access to the site. We created an access path that would increase accessibility to our buildings, fixed the perimeter fence and added another access gate, tore down a dangerous old shed used to house our machine artifacts, built a new one and moved historic equipment to it.

New Machine Shed

In April 2018 we tore down the old machine shed that had been closed off to visitors. This video shows the process of tearing it down, and building the new, much safer, building.

Thank you to McLeod Construction Ltd for doing this work, and for allowing us to film it. We would like to acknowledge that these improvements were made possible by funding through the BC Canada 150 program and the Province of British Columbia in 2017.

Our Glass Works

Published on Sep 24, 2015

Judy and Hugh Bourhis’s shared love and appreciation of stained glass was just one of the many things that bonded them when they met. Little did they know this passion would turn into a full-fledged business that, like the Bourhis’s, is still going strong 35 years later.

Linda K. Thompson’s Poetry Reading

On August 6th we had Linda K. Thompson at the Museum for a poetry reading. Linda’s writing is influenced by both the emerald landscape of Vancouver Island and her childhood home in the beautiful Pemberton Valley. The rich soil of that Valley seems to cling to her no matter the number of years she is away. Voices of family and ancestors make their way onto her pages. She is compelled to record, to save their whispered stories. We saw a total of 11 guests for the reading. A few of Linda’s old friends showed up to support her. We are hoping she can come back for another reading next season.
Visit Linda’s website to find out more about her and to read some of her poetry. http://www.lindakthompson.com/

Transportation Exhibit Funders Video

The Pemberton Museum thanks the Pemberton and Area Endowment Fund via the Community Foundation of Whistler, BC Hydro and American Friends of Whistler for funding for the new Transportation Exhibit. It took a little longer than we anticipated but think you will see it was well worth the wait!
