Jerry Mohs

Image:
Description:
Jerry Mohs wearing the United Nations Assembly Year of Volunteers award in 2001. Jerry was born in Penticton, Nov 01, 1948 to Harold and Nancy Mohs. Soon after this event the family moved to Merritt and eventually on to Pemberton. As a young man, Jerry tried his hand at banking in Prince Rupert but soon returned to a logging career in Pemberton. Eleanor Whitehead, his sister, believes Jerry’s heart lived in Pemberton, no matter where he traveled and he always returned to the valley. Jerry was an active volunteer as a hockey and baseball coach and he was a long time supporter of the Layoam Eagles paddling team. His generosity continued right up to the end and his family told us that he donated his cornea’s before he died so that someone else would have sight.
Notes:
A memorial for Jerry Mohs was held at the museum June 12th, 2016. His sister donated this image along with some personal effects [see artifacts 016.06.01-016.06.06].
