Messages

Message being handed off to a moving train. The procedure was to tie the rolled material with string and attach it to a long pole with a “Y” end. As the engine or caboose passed the station person would hold the stick up with the message affixed to the “Y” and the train personel would scoop the message up with his arm as the train passed.
