Wooden Block

Image:
Description:
A small block consisting of a rusted steel pulley, with a groove for the rope, fastened in worn and bleached wooden frame by pins on which it once revolved. The block is fastened by pins to a heavy steel hook. Condition: Much rusted and worn. Rust stains mark both sides of the case. Such blocks were used for light work; for example in a hay mow or in raising a butchered animal. Later, this must have been used in the woods. Ivan Knowles found it when he was clearing his land above Battle Creek.
