Talkie Tooters

Image:
Description:
These are two talkie tooters. The item is a long square rectangular object with “Talkie Tooter” inscribed on the side. The unit has a curved block handle and is depressed in tandem with pushing a button to “toot” the whistle. The units have a canvas belt affixed so that a logger could wear these units in the field. The units had a mercury switch and could only be activated when right side up to ensure they were not accidentally triggered signalling the operator when it wasn’t required. These units replaced the “Electro Bug” belts and were considered a great improvement in communication technology at the time. See accession # 014.26.01 for history.
