Shirrif salad jelly box

Image:
Description:
A Shirrif salad jelly seasoned tomato flavoured box donated by Clara Ronayne and it was made under the brand name “Shirrif”. It was manufactured by Kellogg Salada Canada LTD., Rexdale, Ontario. The company was first found in 1883 by Francis Shirrif that was turned into a food extract company. Some of the first few products they sold/created was marmalades, dessert toppings, and jelly/pudding mixes. It was a family business up until it was brought by Dominion Stores chain in 1953 as a decision for them to sell their marketed business. At that time previously, Francis Shirrif died in 1944 and his sons took over his position. Eventually, Kelloggs claimed ownership by 1988 and 1992 but sold its interest later on. In current years, other companies such as J.M. Smucker and Dr. Oekter still sell Shirrif products.
