Nine pop bottles that were found in the Tenquille Cabin area and were likely from holiday hikers. a), b), and c) are all green glass bottles related to the soda brand 7 UP, with two being identical with the brand name painted on and the other already having the name inscribed on the glass. The identical bottles a) and b) on the back reads the slogans “Seven-Up – You Like It, It Likes You” on top and “fresh up- with 7 UP” while ingredients are listed in the middle. The company was first found in 1920 by Charles Leiper Grigg when it was originally named the Howdy Corporation and the product name was later shortened to “7 UP Lithiated Lemon Soda” to presently “7 UP” in 1936. d) is a Mountain Dew green glass bottle with illustrations of a farmer and a pig on the bottom and on the top a profile of the farmer painted with the colours red and white. On the front below “Mountain Dew” reads “Filled By Bill And Dot” and on the right side describes what the soda is made out of. On the back has the slogan of “It’ll Tickle yore innards!” with another portrait of the farmer lined with white paint. The company Mountain Dew was found in 1940 by Barney and Ally Hartman and is now a shared brand with PepsiCo. The formula of Mountain Dew was changed a few times, from such years of 1958 to 1961 and had the production rights bought by the company Pepsi-Cola in 1964. e) is a Pepsi-Cola clear glass bottle with both printed labels on the top with one reading the same name and the other with “Pepsi”. It is a merged company with Pepsi-Cola and Frito Lay Inc. back in 1965 but has since gained independence from distributing other food/beverage products. f) is a brown-orange coloured glass bottle reading “Orange Crush” on the front and the back reads “This Special Bottle Protects The Delicate Fruit Flavour And Fresh Taste”. It was discovered in 1906-1911 by Neil Ward and Clayton Howell when it was formerly called “Ward’s Orange Crush”. g), h), and i) are unknown branded bottles, although i) on the bottom reads “Heinz”, in which it may have been a condiment bottle.
