A Gillett’s Cream of Tartar box donated by Clara Ronayne. It was manufactured by Nabisco LTD. The first company, Gillett, McCulloch & Company, was found in 1852 by P.W. Gillett in Toronto, Ontario. It first started making lye, yeast cakes, and baking powder products. Gillett, McCulloch & Company then expanded upon its marketing in 1929, such as forming with Standard Brands Incorporated. The company name “Gillett, McCulloch & Company” stayed that way in 1852 up until 1929 when it changed to “E.W. Gillett Company”. The box mainly presents with instructions on the sides and specifically on the back for making “Sweet and Easy Sugar Cookies”.
