Butt Gage. Used for marking how much wood to carve out of a door to make room for a hinge to lie flat. a) is a rectangular piece of metal (steel) with semi-circle handle attached on top. Three edges of rectangle have raised blades. The case to go around the metal piece is fabric with plastic coating, intended to look like leather. b) case.
