This is a silver platter awarded to Rosemary Walden via her uncle Edmond Ronayne and father Jack Ronayne. Rosemary was involved in picking some varieties for Dr. Wright at the National Exhibition from Edmund and John’s farms. Dr. Wright was a University of British Columbia researcher who helped to establish virus free potato stock in Pemberton on the Ronayne Brothers farms in 1967. This item is associated with 018.06.04. Edmond received $200 with the award. The platter was not engraved with the awardee’s name. It reads, “Royal Agricultural Winter Fair 1972 – Salada Foods Ltd. Award emblematic of the Grand Champion Exhibit Table Stock Potatoes awarded to ________.” This is from a collection of agricultural awards, ribbons and trophies received from Rosemary Walden that belonged to her uncle Edmond Oswald Ronayne, her father’s first cousin.
