cedar root basket

Description-rectangular, brown, made of cedar. This is not in good condition. The rim around the top is fraying and the box itself is fragile. History: Mr. Walker found the basket in a buggy he bought from the Wallace’s more than 20 years ago. Margaret Lester said “it’s a fine piece of work. It was probably a suitcase: areas show where handles were attached, and it would have had a lid.” [update 2019] May be from lower Stl’atl’imx Nations.
