Blue Silver Gloss Laundry Starch box

Image:
Description:
A Blue Silver Gloss Laundry Starch box donated by Clara Ronayne and it was made by the “Canada Starch Company”. It was manufactured by the same company, Canada Starch in Cardinal, Ontario. The company was first found in 1958 by William Thomas Benson and Thomas Aspden and is known to be one of the oldest industries in Canada and is the very first corn-wet milling factory ever made at its time. The earlier products they produced were corn syrup solids, dextrose, maltodextrin, and starch (Benson’s Prepared Corn, Silver Gloss Starch, and Crystal Laundry Starch – No. 1). The original names of the company were Benson & Aspden and W.T. Benson & Company in the 1860s, Edwardsburg Starch Company when Benson worked with other investors, and eventually settled with the Canada Starch Company. By 1954, the company was bought and owned by Ingredion Incorporated. In current years, the business relatively expanded in other regions. The starch, with instructions on the sides and back, show that it is mainly used for adding stiffness, crisp, and/or smoothness to clothing.
