A "sourdough" on the Douglas Trail, 1858

The Douglas Trail was constructed in the fall of 1858. This was the first public works project on the mainland. It was initiated by Governor Douglas to ensure food and freight could be transported to the goldfields inland.

The museum site has many ongoing programs and events over the summer. Watch this page for up and coming events.

SUMMER 2009

  • COUNTRY FAIR!  Saturday Sept 12th 10am - 4pm.  The Women's Institute is sponsoring the Country Fair.  Check out many vendors and their produce, products, art and music.  The museum will be collecting donations at the gate.  All proceeds will go toward the new display/administration building currently under construction.
  • TEA & TALES begins Tuesday July 14th to Aug 25th, 2pm-4pm. Visitors can enjoy tea, coffee or juice and homebaked treats for $2 at the Museum's Tea & Tales program every Tuesday. Each week tea-goers are invited to listen to a local tale presented by a Pemberton resident on various themes connected to life in the valley. The presentations are filmed for the historic record in the Soo Building. Or visitor's can simply just enjoy the grounds and have tea with a friend in the shade of the cedars.
  • For a copy of the Tea & Tales 2008 movie please contact us. Now on sale in the Gift Shop for $10.
  • SUMMER MUSIC AT THE MUSEUM! Saturday August 8, 2009. 11am - 4pm. Featuring local artists playing Jazz, Blues, Pop, Rock, Gospel and more. Kids activities and a Concession on site. Admission by donation. Don't miss this performance of great local music makers! All proceeds will go toward the new display/administration building currently under construction.

We had a great time! We made a good profit and had lots of fun!. We will for sure have another musical event next summer.

Available for Private Events

The museum site is available for private events. The site has been used for photography shoots, movies, weddings, private dinners or luncheons. Please contact us directly for rates and use agreement terms.

Archival Image Calendars now on sale

A 15 month calendar (Sept 2009 - Dec 2010) are now on sale.  The calendars display 15 archival images of Pemberton and District and make unique keepsakes or gifts.  The museum will have a table at the St. David's annual Christmas Bazaar and calendars, books and memberships will be available.  Alternatively you can call or mail us your order at 604-894-5504 or Box 267, Pemberton, B.C.
