Starting in 2008, the museum has run a program called Tea & Tales each summer. Every Tuesday during July and August the museum hosts a tea and brings in a speaker to talk about various topics relating to Pemberton's History. The following videos are sections of each talk. Accession 010.25
Tea & Tales - Karen LoveTea and Tales July13th. Two local artists talk about their life and art in the Pemberton Valley. Karen Love, who moved to Pemberton from Ontario, is a local artist whose signature works of Pemberton scenery are well known throughout the Sea to Sky. Karen works from her home studio in the beautiful Pemberton Valley.Watch Video | |
Tea & Tales - Local Artist Meg GallupLocal artist Meg Gallup talks about her art and life in the Pemberton Valley. Meg is originally from Alberta, she flourished in the University of Calgary Ceramics department and eventually moved to B.C.. Meg focuses on the production of functional hi-fired stoneware as well as one of a kind art pieces. Her creations are fired in a gas kiln at her home studio in Pemberton using glazes she personally developed. July 13, 2010.Watch Video | |
Tea & Tales - Growing Great Children with Cathy KonkleCathy Konkle, a local community member, came to the museum to talk about the strengths and weaknesses of raising children in Pemberton today. Cathy also talks about the number of children born in Pemberton in recent years and the need for improved services for families. Despite some challenges, Cathy believes that Pemberton is still a great place to raise children and gave us some great insight into the world of young families in Pemberton. Tea & Tales - Pemberton Wetlands: Veronica WoodruffVeronica Woodruff from Stewardship Pemberton came and talked about Pemberton Wetlands which included an overview of wetlands, the species that live here and the historic changes to water systems that have occured in the Pemberton Valley due to Flood Protection programs. Tea & Tales - Early Medical Services with Bob PriestBob Priest told us his tale of starting Pemberton's first pharmacy in 1964. As the local pharmacist, Bob was often called upon to assist local residents. In his time in Pemberton he was involved in the formation of the Lions Club and the building of the Health Care Centre in the 1970's. August 3, 2010.Watch Video | |
