Office equipment (catalogs and handbooks) from Valleau Logging LTD

Description:

A "Marshall Wells Catalogue - 1954" that was donated with numerous items from the Valleau Logging office in 2013. Valleau Logging first operated on Salt Spring Island (1940s), then Whistler (1950s-1976) and then Pemberton (1976-2000s). The Valleau's were an integral part of Whistler's development in the early years helping to build roads, bridges and provide services to lost or injured travellers at their camp at Mons on Green Lake. Conflicts with local residents and the arson of a logging bridge saw the family relocate to Pemberton in 1976 where they continued logging operations. David Valleau (63) died as a result of single vehicle accident in 2007 on the South Creek forestry road. Valleau Logging Ltd. closed soon afterwards.
