Description:
These ice tongs are shaped like pincers, having two arms which when brought together cause the closing of the two fingers. This item was used to fetch blocks of ice from lakes near the area and placed in coolers for preserving foods, especially cream since trains ran only twice a week. No markings appear on the arms of it. The item is moveable but rusted and is 32 inches in length.

This item is known as a Log Grapple and is a large set of pincer tongs that was used for moving logs. A partial label reads 986.9… but a match cannot be found in this series (Klaus Fotsch).

Light Tongs
Description:
These are light tongs. An Iron tool some 31 cm in length. Consists of two parts bolted together to create leverage in the form of tongs. They are called pinchers and used by blacksmiths for handling hot materials since they are unsuitable for trimming hooves. Inscribed, "Dasco 312" History: it was used in a blacksmith shop on Menzel's land where it was later found during the ploughing of a field. It is in fair condition but badly rusted.

We are located in the downtown area of Pemberton at 7455 Prospect St.
Hours of Operation
The Pemberton Museum will be open June 3rd to October 26th,
Tuesday to Saturday from 10am to 5pm.
Meetings
The PDMAS Society meets on the 2nd Wednesday of each month at the Museum.
Our 2024 AGM will be held July 10 at 7pm.
