Drill Press

This item is a very large drill press, black in colour, and mounted on a plank of wood. The makers mark is visible and reads: "Blower Forge 80, Kitchener ONT, NO 152." This well-known maker of blacksmithing machinery was founded in 1875 by 17 year old Henry Keiper to manufacture the rotary forge blower he had invented. They started manufacturing drill presses by 1889; the first models were hand-powered post drills. The materials used are steel and wood.
