Found In Collection
ShareThese objects were found in collection by museum staff. Found In Collection (FIC) means the donor, history and use is unknown. In the early days, the museum site was not secured by a fence and previous Curators often found items 'deposited' at the museum overnight. Another factor is that some objects and their parts have become separated over time due to deterioration or human interference. Some of the objects that are Found in Collection may be remnants of prior donations.
Prior to registering these items as "FIC", museum staff attempted to match the object to existing descriptions in the register but were unable to do so. The information for these records was gathered previously by museum staff and museum members over the years. More recently over 140 items were identified through the Museum Assistance Program (MAP) project in 2013. Thanks to Florence Bilenduke, George Henry, Mabel Stillwell, Stu and Judy McNolty and Bob Menzel for providing knowledge about these and other items in collection. Thanks also to Carol Morphy, Dave Steers and Emma Chadsey for their work as Collection Coordinators through this project.
