The Schoolhouse Takes Shape!
This past month saw a lot of work on the Schoolhouse building once the trusses arrived. The crew continued the hard work of bracing and strapping through another lengthy hot spell. When one of the workers on the roof was asked, “How is it going up there” he replied “I’m well done”. It was 39 degrees in the shade that day.
The windows have been ordered from Mountain Glass & Mirror who were able to get them to Pemberton before fall set in. The front door for the Schoolhouse was ordered from a door maker in Lillooet. The lead time on some of the components and materials has been tricky, but McLeod Works is managing to get the job done regardless of supply issues.
This project is made possible thanks to funding from Heritage Canada, Heritage BC and the Province of BC, Squamish Lillooet Regional District, Village of Pemberton, the Enabling Accessibility Fund, Whistler Blackcomb Foundation, Pemberton Women’s Institute and the Citizens of Pemberton.
