A "sourdough" on the Douglas Trail, 1858

The Douglas Trail was constructed in the fall of 1858. This was the first public works project on the mainland. It was initiated by Governor Douglas to ensure food and freight could be transported to the goldfields inland.

The Pemberton Museum is located just off of Hwy 99 in downtown Village of Pemberton. Pemberton is located just 30 minutes north of Whistler, B.C. or 160 kilometres south of Lillooet, B.C. To find us, turn into downtown Pemberton and turn right at the three way stop (at the Scotiabank). The museum site is located at the corner of Portage Rd. and Prospect Street.
