Description:

This is the big wooden welcome sign for Pemberton that was located at One Mile lake from 1977 to 2015. It was carved by Mike Smyth and depicts wildlife including a beaver, moose, and tree in a meadow as well as leaping salmon, mushroom and dogwood bloom.

This hand-made Swede or bucksaw was acquired by Cosulich near White Rock. The maker seems to have used wood from a packing crate. The blade is somewhat rusted.

Mechanical Seeder

Mechanical Seeder

Description:

Mechanical seeder with extra part and wrench. belonged to Larry's father, John Cosulich, who was the president of the Pemberton Co-operative Association in the 1960's. "Planet Jr. - Made in the United States of America" stamped on to handle and on seed hopper. "No. 300 A". Unit has two metal wheels, the front wheel is larger than the rear and has a square metal hopper for seed. Wooden handles for wheeling and metal levers for dropping seed. Some rust. Original paint colour was green for wheels and frame and red for seed hopper. Red wrench and extra part for seeder are attached to handle. Wrench has "Planet Jr." on it in raised lettering, some loss of paint and rust. Extra part is pointed at one end and has "K/806" on it in raised lettering, some rust. Condition is fair. a) seeder b) wrench c) spare part.

This item is a portrait of Slim and Margaret Fougberg, the founders of the Pemberton Museum. The picture was taken by Leslie Spetifore. It was donated by Mike Dennison (former museum treasurer) who now resides in Vernon. This was accessioned as an object because it was donated in a wooden frame.

Pot

Description:

The pot is gallon sized, off white enamel, trimmed red, with wire handle and a wooden grip. The bottom has cracks all around and is rusted. It was used on a farm now belonging to Howard Ayers The first owner was Harvey Nelson in the late 19th century. Following him and his family, in the 20th century, were James Barton and members of a Cleveland family who came from the Cariboo. The latter farmed the land after World War II. Who owned the pot? No trace shows of the effects of a fire which destroyed the farm house.

Biltmore Stick

Biltmore Stick

Description:

Wood and gold 25 inch Biltmore stick. Maker's mark reads: "25INCH REACH BILTMORE ARISTO (B.C.F.S) PATTERN". The stick folds up in the middle and then the two sides fold down. The wood is light coloured, and the ink is black, and perfectly still intact. Gold hinges and caps on either end.

This is an oval, brown ,wooden block, with metal pulleys encased in the wood and a small wooden hook at the top. The wood is cracked, old, and unfinished. The metal pulleys and hook are in good condition. The whole block is covered with silt.

Car Wheel, Wooden Spokes

Description:

This is a wheel framed in metal and having wooden spokes and a metal center. It has a diameter of 50 cm. The spokes don't travel completely from the hub of the wheel to the rim as the spokes are partially rotten. This a hard solid wheel used in cars before inflatable tires. The metal parts of the wheel are slightly rusted, the wooden spokes of the wheel are rotted so that that they do not go to the rim of the wheel.

This is a large oval shaped churn. It is made of rectangular metal. It has a wooden handle which turns a wooden "paddle wheel" device on the inside. It has two parts, the lid and the body. This item is in good condition.

Description:

This a detonator used to create an electrical charge which was subsequently used to set off explosives. This piece of equipment is mostly wood except for the shaft and the generator inside. It was used to set off explosives at a safe distance both in mining, farming and logging. This item appears in extremely good condition showing only little signs of wear.

An inscription reads "Stanley SW , Made in Canada, No 2." The inscription is at the bottom of the level. The level is made of wood with iron reinforcements and iron "bubble" holders. It is a long rectangular block of wood. This item appears to be in good condition but is slightly worn.

Description:

This is a hand plane. It is similar to modern day planes except that it has a wooden base. It has a metal handle and apparatus. It has a secondary handle in the front which is a knob. This item appears to be in good condition but it has a covering of fine flood silt.
