Description:

These ice tongs are shaped like pincers, having two arms which when brought together cause the closing of the two fingers. This item was used to fetch blocks of ice from lakes near the area and placed in coolers for preserving foods, especially cream since trains ran only twice a week. No markings appear on the arms of it. The item is moveable but rusted and is 32 inches in length.

Small Camera and Case

Description:

This is a small camera and case. Camera is brown with a metal case, single lens, few adjustments. One corner is damaged. Inscription reads "Baby Ruby", no serial number. Remote control accessory in hand sewn leather case. Case and camera and accessory very much used and neglected. History: in the 1930's Mr. Fougberg carried this camera in the mountains when he was trapping and prospecting. He made the case from buckskin. [see 013.21.61].

Description:

This is a wooden box used for holding "7Up" bottles. There is a red "7Up" label stamped on all four sides and it is held together with nails and staples. The maker's mark is stamped on the inside and it says "Blue Label Beverage" and "Calgary, Alta" on opposite sides as well as the number "4774."

Description:

Carpenter's tool box containing a) pin pliers, b) awl, c) gimlet, d) saw set, e) parallel pliers, f) hand drill with three augers (g-i) plus the wooden case (k). Tools were very rusted and were cleaned and oiled by Monty Savage [Volunteer]. Great example of a basic tool kit. This object had been left at the museum by unknown donor and was found in the Soo Bldg. attic.

This is a metal wire shipping crate, "Borden" is embossed onto one of the corner pieces. It was likely used for shipping "Borden's Evaporated Milk". Borden, Inc., was an American producer of food and beverage products, consumer products, and industrial products. At one time, the company was the largest U.S. producer of dairy and pasta products. Its food division, Borden Foods, was based in Columbus, Ohio, and focused primarily on pasta and pasta-sauces, bakery products, snacks, processed cheese, jams and jellies, and ice cream. It was best known for its Borden Ice Cream, Meadow Gold milk, Creamette pasta, and Borden Condensed Milk brands.

Wedge

Wedge

Description:

This is wedge, and it has letters embossed on one side. "Endurance" is the maker's mark. Originally thought item was a hatchet head or shaping tool but after investigating with Stu McNolty the wear marks on item point to its use as a wedge. Stu believes it was used to wedge a mill or boiler to level it, in a logging operation. Johnny Jones found an identical item with maker's mark "Endurance" at the Parkhurst site which was a tie/pole mill in ca. 1920 The item is well-used. It was found in the Sam Jim house.
