Description:

This machine was used to seal tins which had canned food had been placed. It could be clamped to a table. The food to be canned was placed in the cans. The lids were seamed on then the tins were put in a hot water bath and processed. Any tins that leaked were discarded.

Description:

A wood and metal clothes wringer with rubber rollers. On the top of frame it read "LOOSEN PRESSURE SCREWS WHEN NOT IN USE" on both sides. On the top of the front side it reads "N0" on one side and "11" on the other. Below that, on a faded red painted bar is written in very faded black lettering is WARRENTY. Below that on a bar, is written "BEST QUALITY STEEL SPRING". Written on the large board under the rollers is "IMPROVED GUIDE BOARD FOR SPREADING THE CLOTHES; DOWSWELL, LEES & Co. LIMITED HAMILTON, CANADA". The back is identical but instead of the board under the rollers there is a ramp that has "WRINGES LAST LONGER AND WORK BETTER IF CLOTHS ARE EVENLY SPREAD AND NOT BUNCHED OR TWISTED WHEN PASSING THROUGH THE ROLLS. ALWAYS REMOVE PRESSURE FROM ROLLS BY RELEASING TOP SCREWS WHEN NOT IN USE KEEP BEARINGS WELL LUBRICATED. OIL INJURES THE RUBBER." written on top, on the reverse side it reads "IMPROVED SURE GRIP CLAMPS WILL FIT ANNIZED IRON FIBRE OR WOODEN TUBS". There is a metal handle with wooden hand grip; rusted screws to attach wringer to tub; wooden guide board and two composition rollers; rusted metal tension screws.

Agricultural Cup Award

Agricultural Cup Award

Description:

This is a silver plate trophy cup mounted on a black round wooden base with rounded edges. It reads, "Agricultural Cup presented by Pemberton Valley Farmer's Institute for Agricultural Aggregate". On the back it is inscribed with "Ronayne Bros." and the years 1925 through to 1934 are stated. The trophy has been converted into a lamp stand with an electrical cord wrapped around the base. There is not a lamp shade with the item. This is from a collection of agricultural awards, ribbons and trophies received from Rosemary Walden that belonged to her uncle Edmond Oswald Ronayne, her father's first cousin.
