Description:

Cross Cut Saw from Sloquet Creek. Estimated to be from the 1930's-40's. Greg Burt believes it was the first cut block in this area. It was kinked and stuck in a large cedar stump. The saw is 8 feet long, bent and rusted.

This cross cut saw originally had two handles. Two people would pull the saw causing the teeth to strip the wood and cut. It is made of metal and has a wooden handle. Condition: it is badly rusted, one handle is missing.

A guitar lessons book. The front cover has a palm tree and a luau girl. It reads "Hello Honolulu Eddie Alkine's Hawaiian Guitar Solo". It also has hand written signature on the cover and it reads "D. sawchuk". On the bottom right corner there's a stamp and it reads "A. P. GEROW Box 396 Revelstoke, B. C. Can". We believe this item is connected to 015.15.02 [See Note].

Description:

Carpenter's tool box containing a) pin pliers, b) awl, c) gimlet, d) saw set, e) parallel pliers, f) hand drill with three augers (g-i) plus the wooden case (k). Tools were very rusted and were cleaned and oiled by Monty Savage [Volunteer]. Great example of a basic tool kit. This object had been left at the museum by unknown donor and was found in the Soo Bldg. attic.

This is cross cut saw blade that was split in half. It is made of metal. Estimate age to be ca. 1900. It is hand riveted and hand-forged - could be from 1890's. The saw most likely broke in half after getting caught in tree when sawing. (as per Stu McNolty).

A pin Canada Day 1984. The pin has yellow with red and blue writing. On the front it displays a potato holding a hard hat and a chainsaw. The potato is also boating down a river with mountains in the background. On the pin it reads "10th Anniversary 1984 Pemberton, Mt.Currie CANADA WEEK Birken, D'Arcy".

Chainsaw motor with auger attachment

Description:

A McCulloch chainsaw with auger attachment. The makers mark states "McCulloch super 797 McCulloch Corporation - Los Angeles, California Patent No. 3 269 713" and this tool was used to drill holes in bridge timbers. It was used locally to build logging bridges.

Saw. Handle was originally painted blue. "S. D. & A. co. Galt Canada" on handle. Weight is approximately three pounds. Perkins Bros. Logging. This is a ripping hand saw. It is not dead flat, and has a rocker to it. This saw was for cutting material fast. It was the best saw you could buy in the 1960's.

Description:

All four of the tags read "TYEE FOREST PRODUCTS LTD. PEMBERTON B.C" on the top. In the middle it reads "CERTI-SPLIT TRADE MARK Handsplit Red Cedar Shakes Number 1 GRADE. These shakes meet all quality requirements for handsplit red cedar shakes as established by RED CEDAR SHINGLES & HANDSPLIT SHAKE BUREAU, SEATTLE WASH. Copyright 1955. Vancouver, B.C." On the back are instructions for roof pitch and exposure, roof application, nailing, and literature. a+b) have orange tops and on the bottom it reads "24x1"/2"-3/4" Handsplit-&-Resawn". The bottom of b) has black mold stains. c+d) have white tops and on the bottom it reads 24"x1/2-5/8 Tapersplit d) is covered in red stains. The items were found on the Perkins brothers lot.

saw and drive mechanism

Description:

This is a power saw and has a cut off blade on a bar with a drive mechanism that belong together. This was used at Frank's shake block mill which was located approximately where the Pemberton Health Clinic and Pemberton Secondary School is now located. Blade is from 1958-1959 on and was acquired after the mill was closed down.
