Description:

This hayfork is suspended by a small block and would have hung from a hay carriage. Rusted steel frame fashioned to form three sides of a rectangle (arched at top): prongs for grabbing and holding hay just into opening below. Both sides of outer frame have straps on near top and bent to make apertures. Horizontal brace of angle iron protrudes through both openings, two vertical steel rods hook into the angle iron (one on each inner side of the frame). Once adjustable prongs are attached to these rods, which moved up and down. Condition: rusted. History: probably from one-time Harvey Nelson, later Cleveland farm.

Diameter Tape

Description:

Silver measuring tape. Maker's mark is visible on the outer silver as well as it is written at the beginning of the tape inside: "The Lufkin Rule Co. Saginaw, Mich, USA". The tape inside is black with silver lettering and measurements. There is a silver hook which fastens inside a hole to secure the tape once it has been rolled up. There is a silver reel that pops out of the centre of the body, to reel in the tape once it has been unrolled. Carved into the reel is "25 FT". The reel snaps into position once it is done being used.

Description:

This is an oval, brown ,wooden block, with metal pulleys encased in the wood and a small wooden hook at the top. The wood is cracked, old, and unfinished. The metal pulleys and hook are in good condition. The whole block is covered with silt.

Description:

This is a sickle made of iron and it has a wooden handle. The handle comes wood wrapped beyond the end of the blade. The handle is worn and smooth. The blade is curved at the end in a loop. The inside circular part of the blade is sharpened. The blade is slightly rusted and the piece is worn. See"grass hooks" @ 25c ea. Eaton's 1901 Fall and Winter Catalogue pp. 190 & 192.

Description:

Made of steel, now rusted and pitted. Used to hook and move logs, on land or in water. Handle is missing. This tool has been common in Pemberton. In the "McLennan, McFeely & Prior Limited", January 1952 catalogue, the handle is described as 34-inch hardwood.

Description:

These attachments (hooks) are used for preparing ground for sowing. They are made of metal. The items are too lightweight for use with a tractor - probably push or horse related farming attachments. The four-sided square nuts date object to prior WWII (as per Stu McNolty). These implements were manufactured but are very lightweight.

Description:

This is a horse-powered one wheel cultivator. It is a 'V' shaped metal frame with six reversible teeth on each side and one on the back end. A small metal wheel supports the leading point and has a hook to attach to a horse. There are adjusting lever sticks up between wooden handles. The closest match is 984.30.1 but the dimensions do not match. There is another similar item in the machine shed. A new accession number has been issued to this item.

Description:

Two spring scales used for weighing fish. a) the smaller one is gold in colour with one rusted hook on the bottom and on the top is a rusted circular ring. On the top of the front of the scale it says "TEUTONIC" with an arrow through it. Measurements are in Lbs., "Made in Germany". b) the larger scale is "made in the U.S.A". has the # 5215 on the top, "Chatillons Improved Cow Testing Only Not Legal For Use In Trade".

Description:

This is the bridle off horse's equipment. It is made of leather, including the eye patches. The rings and buckles are made of iron (now rusted). It is a leather strap hooked in a circle by rings which can be tightened by a belt like apparatus. It is quite worn.
