Description:

A rectangular timber stamp, with a oval hole in the center where the handle should be. The stamp itself reads "306 9V9" backwards. Timber marks and brands play an important role in ensuring timber is transported and scaled in a controlled manner. It ensures that harvested timber is correctly accounted for and not stolen from Crown Lands.

Weight Beam Scale

Description:

The scale, once polished, now rusted , has a steel beam which has a trace of markings. Poise, rusted, seems to be intact. Heavier weights and the metal which suspended them are missing. Lighter weight, also rusted, still slides along the bar. Earl Hall dug this up when he lived in a house built by C. Marinus, which has now burned; on land now belonging to McGuire [D. Callaway].

Description:

Two spring scales used for weighing fish. a) the smaller one is gold in colour with one rusted hook on the bottom and on the top is a rusted circular ring. On the top of the front of the scale it says "TEUTONIC" with an arrow through it. Measurements are in Lbs., "Made in Germany". b) the larger scale is "made in the U.S.A". has the # 5215 on the top, "Chatillons Improved Cow Testing Only Not Legal For Use In Trade".

Scale. Metal bar with hook on one end and rectangular metal block that slides along bar. Near end with hook a second hook is screwed on at top, directly below is an attachment for a weight. On bar is writing "Made in Canada" and "B13811", worn and difficult to read.

Counter Scale

Description:

The scale has a single brass beam marked with a double row of figures, the upper one indicating the scoop weight and the lower one the platform weight. Base and post are rusted. On one side of the beam is this inscription: "Stewart Miln- Ltd. Hamilton Ont." on the other side are what appear to be "cap 840 no 629"? One of the four prongs to support the scoop is missing as is the scoop. Eaton's 1901 catalogue, p 187 has a similar scale priced at $5.00. In march 1952 McLennan, McFeely & Prior showed a similar scale priced at 48.70 and 45.95. Walker found the scale in an old house foundation at the Port Pemberton Site.
