A "sourdough" on the Douglas Trail, 1858

The Douglas Trail was constructed in the fall of 1858. This was the first public works project on the mainland. It was initiated by Governor Douglas to ensure food and freight could be transported to the goldfields inland.

Museum Exhibits Open

We officially open to the public on Sat. May 22nd but the curator has finished setting up the exhibits earlier than usual as a school group visited the museum on Monday.  If you have time, drop by and have a look.
