A "sourdough" on the Douglas Trail, 1858

The Douglas Trail was constructed in the fall of 1858. This was the first public works project on the mainland. It was initiated by Governor Douglas to ensure food and freight could be transported to the goldfields inland.

Museum Opening

The museum exhibits will open to the public on Saturday May 22nd.

The Curator, Niki Madigan,  is now on site (April 12th) from Monday to Thursday getting the place ready for the summer season.

Niki is also doing annual cataloging and archiving at this time of year.  Drop on by for a visit.
