A "sourdough" on the Douglas Trail, 1858

The Douglas Trail was constructed in the fall of 1858. This was the first public works project on the mainland. It was initiated by Governor Douglas to ensure food and freight could be transported to the goldfields inland.

Country Fair

The Country Fair is on Saturday Sept 12th at the Museum from 10am - 4pm.  If you haven't seen the great job the Women's Institute does with this event drop on by.  There is something for everyone with many vendors, produce, arts and crafts and music.  The museum will be collecting donations at the gate.  All proceeds will go toward the new display/administration building under construction.
