The Douglas Trail was constructed in the fall of 1858. This was the first public works project on the mainland. It was initiated by Governor Douglas to ensure food and freight could be transported to the goldfields inland.
David Steers, a local resident in the valley, has been taking spectacular photos of Pemberton and area for many years. A fan of local history, David has spent much time photographing community events and happenings in the district over the years.
