A "sourdough" on the Douglas Trail, 1858

The Douglas Trail was constructed in the fall of 1858. This was the first public works project on the mainland. It was initiated by Governor Douglas to ensure food and freight could be transported to the goldfields inland.

September Closures

Please be advised the Pemberton Museum will be closed as follows:

Tuesday & Wednesday September 2 & 3

  • Sunday & Monday September 7 & 8
  • Sunday & Monday September 14 & 15

The Museum will closed for the season after the Country Fair on Saturday September 20.
